About
Hello!
I'm a painter, photgrapher and jewellery designer maker living and working in the Scottish borders. I hold a BA Hons Fine Art and English, an MA in American Literature since 1945 and a PGCE Secondary English with Drama and Media Studies and have spent five years teaching secondary school students and adult education groups.
Leaving university and thus access to darkroom and studio space left me in a bit of a creative abyss, however, my first dSLR soon rekindled the joys for learning new creative skills and I made the decision to leave full time teaching in 2008. In the summer after my last term I taught myself how to make jewellery with beads and wire, started to paint and draw again and continued to take many photographs. By the following February I had officially become a self employed artist.
At the end of April 2010, after months of frustrating delays, we moved from the English Midlands up to the Scottish borders, completing my tour of the UK, having grown up in Northern Ireland and studied in Wales! Our new coastal setting has inspired a whole new body of work starting with my sea glass and pottery jewellery range.
